Have you seen the price of gas? So take that!!!!

This gas station is around the corner from my house!
I can walk there it's so close. It dropped .02cents a few
days ago. Big whoop!
About a week ago I was asked to make 40 Cinnamon rolls for
the missionaries in our area. My best friend Sherri was asked
to do the same. Here's a picture of some of them out of the oven
and some rising. YUM!
Now how do I get them to the church 2 miles away? You
got it...on my bike. I hooked up my trailer and there ya go!
I called Sherri up and asked her if she wanted to ride
bikes to the stake center with our cinn. rolls. She had
already planned on it. Here she is at our old meeting spot. We
use to meet at this corner to head out on our long
bike rides. It was so fun seeing her ride up
I just had to get a picture. Fun memory!!!
Here we are frosting the Cinnamon rolls. It was HOT outside...
as you can tell. We are glowing! Awesome work out!
Missionary mom helping us serve.

Dig in Elders!

We served over 50 missionaries!

I love a missionary with a smile!
Nothing better!!!

Aren't these two sister missionaries the cutest?
Brings me back to my missionary days!
For those of you that don't know. I served a
mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints in Alabama when I was
21 years old.

Before we left to ride home we were called in to the
cultural hall and all the missionaries sang "As
I have Loved You". Ok that got the
tears going!

Here we are with some of the help in the kitchen.
Me, Sherri, Dannette Johnson, Kay Montgomery.
What a great experience. I LOVE being a
missionary mom.

Side note: On our way home Sherri blew out one
of her tires on her trailer. I should have gotten a
picture. It was  a good one. Flapping all over the place.
No big deal...it adds to the adventure.
I filled up my car last Saturday April 30th and a week
later I still have 3/4's of a tank of gas! So take that
Oil Companies! I'm riding my bike EVERYWHERE!

It's so windy out there!

When I got home from work on Monday I realized I
needed to mail a Mother's Day gift to my mom. I also needed
to get a gift off to Wayne's mom. I looked outside and
thought...oh do I really want to get back on my
bike and ride in the wind? UGH! There is a small post office
just a mile from my house. So I loaded up my bike and I was on my
way. While in line a nice lady asked me if I was riding my bike. I told her
my story and she said "Here you deserve some choc. raspberry bunnies! They
are on sale. 75% off!" I couldn't resist and boy were they good. I then decided to
head over to Von's and pick up some things for dinner. Turkey
sandwiches sure sounded good. Corn was on sale and so were avocados.
But the lettuce was $2.50 a head! I don't think so. I then headed to
Smart and Final. Another mile away.

On my way I stopped at my a Deli and
picked up Salami! Yum! I never stop there and yet it's
in the same parking lot as Smart and Final. Heaven
forbid I should walk all the way over there! It's an easy
stop on my bike! The young man helping at the counter said
"Are you riding your bike?" I told him yes and he said "I ride
my bike to work everyday!" He's had it with gas prices too!
Love It!!!

Lettuce was $1.39 a head and tomatoes were $1.39lb.
Saved a couple of bucks there! Totally worth it!

2 heads of lettuce, 3 tomatoes, 1 lb. salami, 4 ears of corn
1 1b. turkey, 1/4lb. provolone, string cheese, 3 lb tri tip,
2 avocados, choc. bunnies and orange slices.
I got all this in my basket and in my backpack!

I love orange slices but the bunnies were
The Best!
So take that Wind!

On the road again

Here we are at the strawberry stand! Yes
we rode our bikes...over a freeway over pass...ugh!
It was an easy ride to the stand. Then we realized
we were riding WITH the wind. Up the hill
on the way back was a little tough.
On our way down the hill Sherri hit a bump and
her strawberries flipped right out of her basket!
This was right in the middle of the on ramp
to the 405 on Bolsa. A little scary that's for sure.
The strawberries survived! A little squished
but still very tasty!

We then rode over to a bike shop to check out
the newest bikes. Then over to Sherri's
and back home again. Pretty fun!
I rode over 12 miles today!
I'm saven' on gas! I haven't had to fill
my car up in two weeks and I still have 1/4 tank left!
Yes, I do drive when I have too:)

It's all in your head!!!!

I'm back! Yippee! So this is what I was thinking this weekend...I've been riding my bike to do errands for 2 weeks now. I needed a few things for my primary kids for Easter. I decided to go over to the Dollar Tree. I was disappointed that I couldn't get everything I needed. I was so tired. We had just gotten back from camping early that morning, we cleaned out the camper and then headed to our annual Easter picnic with the Wilson family. I really wanted to just go home. I unlock my bike and thought to myself..."Targets only a mile away...how long would it really take to get there on my bike?" So I decided to stay on my bike and pedal through the wall in my head. Would you believe I got there in less then 5 minutes? It was faster to ride my bike then to get in my car and find a parking place! I found what I needed (cellophane bags for treats) and headed home.

So Take That... Wall In My Head!!!! Busted right through it:)

On my bike again!

Saturday was a busy day. Instead of taking my car and going to the gym I hoped on my bike and rode to the beach. WOW! What a beautiful day. I rode down to PCH and then to Sea Point. I stopped half way to take these pictures of the surf. My hair looks pretty bad but I look REALLY happy! There is nothin' better then a good ride at the beach without any wind! I rode about 12 miles. I'm guessing since I don't have odometer yet. I'll be buying one of those tomorrow.

Once I got home I called my best friend and biking buddy, Sherri. She met me at my house. We hooked up a VERY old bike trailer to my bike and headed to the swap meet around the corner from my house. We were looking for potted flowers for center pieces we needed for a dinner Saturday night. Sherri needed a play pen of some kind for her new baby chickens. She has 5 baby chicks and her husband is building a chicken coup in her back yard. I'll tell you more about that in a minute. Well....did we get some great finds at the swap meet. We just loaded it all up in my trailer! Sherri got a used doggie playpen for $8.00. I got 4 beautiful pots of flowers for $5.00 each! A total steal of a deal. We each got a basket to put on our bikes so when we go to the grocery store for a quick trip we have some place to put our groceries. They were selling them for $15.00 but Sherri got the guy to sell us 2 for $25! Way to go bestie! 2 sweet pineapples for $5.00, fanny pack for 5 bucks(I know! I know! gross! But I've got to have some place to put my cell, money, keys etc.) We headed home and unloaded most of the goods and took a few pictures.

Then it was off to deliver Sherri's doggie pen. We got on our bikes and headed out. BUT...as we passed a neighbors house they were selling lemonade and COOKIES! Sherri put on the breaks!!! We GOTTA have cookies! We chatted with the Diaz family and ates some cookies. Boy were they good! I think I make a good cookie but I think they have me beat! We headed to Sherri's and delivered the rest of our treasures. As I was riding home I felt such a great feeling of impowerment! So Take That gym pass!!!!

By the way...check out Sherri's cute little chicks at jackandhazel.blogspot.com ! It's pretty darn funny! Chickens in Huntington Beach! I love it!!!!

So Take That

"I'm Mad As @#$% And I'm Not Going To Take It Anymore!!!"

You might be asking yourself what is this all about? Well...let me tell you. Two years ago when gas prices went up I remember saying to myself "If it hits $4.00 a gallon I'm going to start riding my bike to work!" So this week I got my bike out tuned it up and rode to work everyday. Not as easy as I thought. A lot of prep the night before. I had to map out my route, bring clothes to change into, fix my hair when I got there. EECK! Lunch needed to be packed and everything organized. Plus...I still have a 10 year old to get off to school. So, she's on her bike too. We take a nice easy ride to her school and then I take off and ride as hard as I can the 3 miles to work. It takes me about 20 minutes with all the lights. Not too bad.

In addition to my riding to work one day I decided to stop at the bank and Target on my way home. It was awesome! What a great feeling it is to ride my bike and not be driving my car. So...ARCO TAKE THAT!!!
